The Department of Medical Oncology was established on April 1, 2005. In clinical practice, we work at the Multidisciplinary Cancer Center, which was opened on October 1, 2005, the first tumor center in the Hokuriku District. We accept patients with various cancers such as breast, gastrointestinal, hematological, pancreato-biliary, and lung cancers. We see both out-patients and in-patients. In basic research, we are conducting molecular analysis on invasion and metastasis of cancer cells in collaboration with the INSERM U. 624 in Marseille, France, and other laboratories. We are in charge of oncology education, aiming at the comprehensive understanding of the pathophysiology of cancer and whole person care.
